Fall 2009 Career Training and University Transfer

Admissions Process

New Students

If you have never taken a class at Florida State College at Jacksonville (formerly Florida Community College at Jacksonville) before, the first step is to complete the College’s membership application and submit it to us electronically. Two documents are required for applicants to be classified as an in-state Florida resident for tuition purposes. Consult the online catalog for residency requirement information. Allow 24-48 hours for application processing. You may also apply using the application form located in the back of the printed schedule. Submit the application to any campus enrollment services office or mail it to Florida State College at Jacksonville, Students Records Office, 940 N. Main St., Jacksonville, FL 32202. The nonrefundable records origination fee is $15 for U.S. citizens and certain legal immigrants and visa holders. Your application fee (record origination fee) may be paid by mail, online, by visiting the business affairs office on campus or it will be added to your registration fees.

Returning Students

If you have been away from the College for more than a year, you will need to update information on your membership application. You may also complete a readmission application at any campus enrollment services office. Returning students are required to provide two documentations to classify as an in-state Florida resident for tuition purposes.

Official High School or College Transcripts

If you graduated from a public high school in Duval (after June 1989), St. Johns (after June 1993) or Clay (after June 1992) county, the College will request an official transcript after we receive your membership application. If our request is not honored by the high school, students will be notified by mail to request their own official transcript. If you graduated from a public or private high school outside of Duval, St. Johns or Clay counties, please have your high school send an official transcript indicating your graduation date to Florida State College at Jacksonville, Student Records Office, 940 N. Main St., Jacksonville, FL 32202. If you have attended any other college or university, please request each school to forward your official transcript to the above address. All transcripts must be received and evaluated before a student can be approved for financial aid. If transcripts are not received within one term, subsequent class registration attempts will be blocked.

Assessment and Academic Advising

Contact the Assessment and Certification Center on any campus to take the required assessment for course replacement. Students with SAT or ACT report scores less than two years old may use their test scores. New students will be directed to complete orientation and academic advising. Transfer students will be advised if assessment is required or recommended.
