What is Adult Education?

The Adult Education department at Florida Community College operates programs designed to provide students with the opportunity to learn the basic and academic skills necessary to obtain a high school diploma and/or be prepared for the workforce.

We also offer additional academic options for students such as dual enrollment and co-enrollment.

What programs are offered?

Programs are offered at North, South, Kent and Downtown campuses. We also offer classes at our various centers and community sites. The programs we offer include:

• High School (AHS)
• General Education Diploma (GED)
• Adult Basic Education (ABE)
• Vocational Preparatory Instruction (VPI)
• English as a Second Language (ESOL)

Who is eligible?

Students who are at least 16 years of age, have completed the FCCJ membership application and have attended new student orientation are eligible to attend Adult Education classes. (View Special Admissions information.)

How do I register?

Registration information is available for new students, and for current and returning students.

What is the cost?

For students who meet the eligibility requirements and do not have a high school diploma, the Adult Education courses are free.

When are classes offered?

Classes are offered Monday through Friday and some weekend classes at various times.
