Getting Started

Congratulations. If you’re reading this, then you’ve already made one of the most important decisions — to continue your education and fulfill a personal goal. While the admissions and enrollment process is a little different for each student, depending on what type of program you’re entering, here's a good place to get started if you’re feeling bewildered.

  1. If you haven’t completely made up your mind about coming to Florida Community College, stop by the student success office at the campus nearest you. The student success staff can guide you to people and resources to help with your questions and decisions.
  2. Submit a membership application and the $15 fee. You can complete it online, pick one up at any campus or request one to be mailed to you. If you’re pursuing a degree, you’ll need to request that your high school send us an official transcript. International students should see International Students for more information.
  3. You might be eligible for financial aid. Visit the enrollment services office on the campus nearest you or the financial aid Web page to learn more about financial aid and how to determine whether you’re eligible.
  4. If you haven’t already decided on a career goal and program of study, make an appointment with a counselor at the Career Development Center on the campus nearest you.
  5. Before you start classes, you’ll need to contact the Assessment and Certification Center on your campus to take placement tests. Students with SAT or ACT scores less than two years old can use these scores for placement instead.
  6. College credit students should sign up for New Student Orientation, either by video, through in-person group sessions on campus, or online. They’ll review your placement scores and suggest which courses to take first. Students may make an appointment for a first-term advising session following the orientation.
  7. If you are a workforce student, you should meet with an advisor; they can help you clarify, plan and achieve your academic and career goals. You should also make an appointment for a one-on-one session with your program advisor or manager. They’ll review placement scores and suggest which courses to take first.
  8. Register for the courses you plan to take using the College’s online registration or at the enrollment services office on campus.
  9. Your tuition and fees will need to be paid by the payment deadline. You can pay by mail, online or by visiting the business affairs office on your campus. After we receive your payment, we’ll mail you your class schedule and fee statement.
  10. After registering, go to the student ID center on your campus and get your Lifetime Member Card. This photo ID is required while on College property.
  11. A parking decal will be mailed to you.
  12. You can buy your books at the campus bookstore, or you can now buy them online.
  13. Check out the links on the left for more admissions information concerning your specific goals.
