Baseball Hall of Famers’ and PGA Golfers’ Authentic Autographs, Memorabilia and “The Pride of the Yankees” movie featured at October 23 Courtyard Night’s Program

The Florida State College Courtyard Night’s Series will feature a display of more than 50 Baseball Hall of Famer’s and PGA Golfer’s original autographs, photos and stories presented by Professor Rick Hull at 7 p.m. on Friday, October 23, at the Betty P. Cook Nassau Center in the Nassau Room. In the mid-1950s teenager Richard Hull contacted the Baseball Hall of Fame and requested the home addresses of all the living members. He proceeded to send each member a handwritten note and a self-addressed postcard asking for their signature. He followed up his original request when he asked each member to write back to him with their most memorable sports moment. Richard will be displaying and talking about the original signatures and personal notes he received from legends Ty Cobb, Connie Mack, Cy Young, Jimmy Foxx, Mel Tot, Roger Hornsby, Ted Williams and others.

As an adult, Richard replaced his passion for baseball with golf and photography. In addition to being an avid golfer, he has taken thousands of photographs of professional golfers and obtained signatures from many. During the program, he will discuss the techniques he used to compile his vast autograph collection as well as displaying original signed photographs and other golf memorabilia from players such as, but not limited, to Byron Nelson, Tom Watson, Sam Snead, Gene Sarazen, Payne Stewart, Tiger Woods, Jack Nicklaus, and Arnold Palmer. He also will display a signed photo of the entire 1991 Ryder Cup Team and autographed scorecards from the Masters, British Open, PGA Championship, and the U.S. Open.

Following Professor Hull’s presentation, the classic movie, “The Pride of the Yankees” (1943) starring Gary Cooper, will be shown. Popcorn, cold drinks and coffee will be provided.

The Betty P. Cook Nassau Center is located at 76346 William Burgess Boulevard in Yulee. For directions or information please call 904.548.4432.
