The Fourth Annual FCCJ High School Summer Musical Theatre Experience “Disney’s Beauty and the Beast” July 23–July 26, 2009

What:	The FCCJ High School Summer Musical Theatre Experience: The FCCJ Artist Series and the Nathan H. Wilson Center for the Arts production of “Disney’s Beauty and the Beast.”
When:	July 23 at 7:30 p.m. July 24, 25 at 8 p.m. July 26 at 2 p.m.
Where:	Florida Community College South Campus Nathan H. Wilson Center for the Arts, Main Stage 11901 Beach Boulevard (east of St. Johns Bluff Road)
Cost:	General admission: $20; children 12 and under: $10; FCCJ Faculty, staff and students $10; seniors and military $15.

Details: The FCCJ High School Summer Musical Theatre Experience is celebrating its fourth year providing theatre opportunities for students in grades eight through 12 in the First Coast area. More than 70 performers and 30 technicians are learning new skills from FCCJ’s experienced staff in preparation for their production of “Disney’s Beauty and the Beast.” The story begins with an old beggar woman who asks the master of a castle for shelter from the cold, offering as payment a single red rose. The vain and uncaring prince turns her away. Seeing his horrible heart for what it truly is, the old woman turns the prince into a hideous Beast and his servants into animated furniture and house wares. The only way to break the spell is for the prince to learn to love another and earn her love in return by the time the last petal falls from an enchanted rose. A maid from the village, Belle, comes on the scene. Humor, drama, song and dancing dishes ensue. Everyone knows how it magically ends. This hit musical is intended for children and adults of all ages.
