Five people receive Excellence Awards, and one person receives the Outstanding Career Employee of the Year award.

To be considered for one of these awards the nominee must display the characteristics of the Career Employees Standards, have been with the College for at least five years and have consistently gone “the extra mile” above and beyond their normal day-to-day job responsibilities. The nominee must be actively involved in the College as a whole by serving on committees, councils or showing an interest in working to improve the processes associated with their job; have shown the desire to better themselves by participating in professional development; and, have exhibited superior customer service skills.

CEC Book Awards

The CEC, in an effort to assist career employees who are furthering their education, developed a program* to award qualified career employees $100 toward the purchase of books. Five awards of $100 each will be given for Fall semester. The deadline to apply is Aug. 1, 2008.

Applicants must meet all of the following requirements.

  1. Full-time or regular part-time career employee
  2. Employed as a career employee for at least one year
  3. Have at least 12 credit hours (6 in the past 12 months)
  4. Have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.0
  5. Not have received a book award within the past year
  6. Complete the scholarship application

Although priority consideration is given to applicants who have not yet received a CEC book award, all interested career employees should apply.

To ensure fairness, a committee will use a point-based system to select the winners. If necessary, the committee may ask an applicant to appear for a personal interview.

Please complete the scholarship application and send it to the FCCJ Scholarship Department, MCCS, Room 253, attention Beth Dunham. You may fax the application to 904.632.3049. If you have questions, please contact Beth Dunham at 904.632.3244

*If you would like to contribute to this program you may do so through the FCCJ Foundation. Mark your contribution to the Career Employees Book Award Fund.
