Sample Course Agenda

Front Line Supervisor Training

Presenter: Corporate Training Staff

Program Description: This eight hour program has been designed for the first-time supervisor who may have been promoted but has little or no previous managerial training or college work. The program should be attended by team leaders, supervisors, managers or frontline supervisors or anyone who may be relatively new in a supervisory position.

Course Objectives and Measurable Outcomes:

  • Manage time and stress levels effectively
  • Conflict resolution
  • Effective team building
  • Lean concepts
  • Professional development in the work environment

Practical Application Exercises:

Participants will use a time mastery instrument to understand the dimensions of mastering time and effectively planning, scheduling and prioritizing work. They will look at time wasters, ways to manage interruptions, how to identify causes and eliminate procrastination and how to effectively manage time teamwork.

Conflict resolution basics will be covered through group role play exercises including how to address conflict on teams and how to bring out the best in others. Effective team building exercises focus on developing and building upon the characteristics the team members have in common by pooling unique skills, knowledge and styles individuals bring to the group. Key lean concepts, including continuous improvement, reduction in lead and process time, waste reduction, and best practices are reviewed.

Student Workshop Evaluation/Assessment of Learning: An evaluation will be given to all participants regarding the training outcomes and specifically how they will apply them.
