Internet Dial-up System
Florida Community College now provides limited
dial-up network access to students. It supports a PPP connection
to the network, which also gives you access to the Internet.
If you already use a local ISP then switching to the service
offered through Florida Community College will be quite easy.
Just change your account information
and the phone number. If you have not set up your home computer
for Internet dial-up access you will have to go through a setup
process. Everyone who has a student account automatically
has a dial-up account also.
NOTE: You must have an Florida Community College Student Computing
Services (SCS) account BEFORE you can use the student dial-up services. Your
SCS user ID and the password are the same for dial-up, Web publishing
and e-mail services. If you have not already activated your SCS
account, please do so before proceeding further.
Please take the time to read our acceptable
use policy. You must accept this agreement in order to access
Florida Community College student computing services.
Currently student dial-up access time is limited. This is due
to the fact that the College has a limited amount of Internet
resources.
To ensure everyone has a fair chance to connect successfully the
following limits have been implemented.
- Connection time
= 4 hours. Students will
be allowed to connect to the Florida Community College Internet
service for a total
of 4 hours at a time. After 4 hours, the student will be disconnected
automatically and forced to redial to connect again.
- Inactive time
= 4 hours. Please be courteous
of other students and disconnect when you are finished.
The following links provide instructions for
setting up your dial-up connection.
WARNING: The Florida Community College
Limited Student ISP Service made available herein is “free
of online charges” only! It is NOT
free of long distance charges if you live outside of the local
904 Area Code; or if you would normally
incur
long distance charges when calling Florida Community College
offices.
