Our Vision

We are a universally-engaged community of professors and students dedicated to providing excellence in education and service in a collegiate setting. We strive to balance the needs of a diverse population by establishing goals that attend to individual aspirations while embracing global demands. We foster innovative teaching and dynamic student-centered service to insure that our students achieve their far-reaching goals.

Kent Campus Annual Goals - 2007

1. Promote excellence in teaching and learning to enhance student achievement.

1.1. Meet student academic needs by accommodating various learning strengths and styles.

1.2. Maintain excellence and integrity by establishing a process of continuous assessment and improvement of instructional and student success standards.

1.3. Provide co-curricular programming and activities with a strong academic emphasis to complement the educational mission.

1.4. Integrate innovative technology in the teaching/learning process to stimulate and engage students.

2. Promote innovative educational programs and curricula to prepare students for the future.

2.1. Maintain the highest quality, integrity, and rigor in academic offerings.

2.2. Offer a wide selection of liberal arts and sciences courses that foster critical thinking, a search for knowledge, information literacy, scholarly pursuits, and the quest for lifelong learning.

2.3. Develop and implement programs; provide training to meet the needs of a dynamic workforce.

2.4. Provide educational opportunities for students needing college entry remediation and for those seeking basic adult education classes.

3. Promote the development of human capital and the use of physical resources so that all individuals attain their full potential.

3.1. Provide an extraordinary, positive experience for students, faculty, and staff.

3.2. Increase student success by integrating and improving advising, assessment, career development, educational counseling, scheduling, and the utilization of the library and learning center resources.

3.3. Recruit, develop, and retain highly qualified, learning-centered faculty and staff to ensure that students receive extraordinary services.

3.4. Integrate technology into the workplace, classroom, and information/learning commons so as to prepare students for the twenty-first century.

3.5. Promote stewardship to ensure continued efficient, effective, responsible and accountable use of public funds, and to encourage continuous improvement by engaging departments in a process of planning and evaluation.
